Whats the difference between an indoor and outdoor range?
An indoor range is confined within a building, a relatively small space. At an indoor range noises are louder, spaces are tighter, the air is thicker, and generally its more of a clinical type feeling. An outdoor range offers more freedom of movement, more space, and generally more shooting options. Many things are not allowed at indoor ranges such as children, drawing from a holster, shooting while moving, shooting at metal or explosive targets, shooting certain kinds of ammo, shooting heavy weaponry, etc.

Do I need a "gun license"?
​No. A gun license is not a requirement to owning or carrying guns in the state of Texas. There are certain stipulations though on what kinds of guns and where they can be carried. But you can bring any kind of gun into the Odessa Area Outdoor Gun Range including 50+ caliber guns, rocket launchers, mortars, etc. We have ZERO RESTRICTIONS.

Do my guns have to be registered?
No. There is no gun registration in the state of Texas.

Do I have to bring paperwork with my guns?
No. The paperwork means nothing. 

​Do I have to show an ID?
No. We don't care what your name is or where you are from as long as you are respectful, safe, and follow all rules. However, ID is required for any and all rentals. 

​Is there an age limit?
No. We encourage getting your kids familiarized with guns at an early age.

Do yall explain how the range works?
Yes. We give all new shooters 16 years and older a safety briefing which explains the range operation and a safety briefing card to show every time they come to the range. 

Will someone be there to help me with my gun?
Yes. We have friendly and knowledgeable NRA certified Range Safety Officers on staff every single day. We want you to have fun and be safe so never hesitate to ask for help. 

What if we don't have any guns?
We rent guns. Pistols, rifles, shotguns, paintball guns, BB guns.

What do we shoot at?
Paper targets, metal targets, or explosive targets (bombs).

What do we need to bring to the O.A.O.G.R.?
The only thing you absolutely need to bring is money for a day pass or a year membership. If you want to rent our guns, we have a small selection to give you the general idea of different types of guns. We also have an assortment of targets and shooting accessories for purchase and rent. Of course you can always bring your own guns, ammo, targets, and shooting gear.
